Teton and Yellowstone

Still heading towards Seattle, we decided to return to the Grand Teton and Yellowstone area (we visited back in 2014 on Onions first visit to the United States).

In an out of character move for us, we went without a camping reservation, but managed to find a site at Gros Ventre Campground at the southern edge of Grand Teton.  Most of the campgrounds in Yellowstone and Grand Teton are first come first served and even in the summer, some don't fill up.

Dinner with a view!

We actually spent most of the time in the are just exploring.  One day we decided to drive west to see what the Tetons looked like from the Idaho side.  The Teton Valley of Idaho is gorgeous rolling farmland, with a view of the more gradual rise up to the Teton Mountains.

Henry Lake in Idaho

We stopped in for a picnic!

Hmmm, which car is from California?

Truly...a sign of which I have no idea the meaning.  Anyway, Henry Lake State Park in Idaho is actually not far from the West Entrance to Yellowstone and is a possible option for camping the next time we return to the area.

Breakfast!!!

And we saw lots of wildlife!

We returned to the Grand Prismatic Spring!

However, this time, we found that there was a short hike to which you could climb up and see the Spring from above!

After a nice lunch at the Lake Yellowstone lodge, we found a quiet spot on the lake to hang out.

Onions found this small hot spring.....

So the next day, we came back and brought a dozen eggs.....

And cooked HARD BOILED EGGS!!!

A family was there with their boys and we gave them some for the road!

And the eggs tasted great!  No sulfur smell.
