Rocky Mountain National Park

Three Full Days in Rocky Mountain National Park!

The lowland meadows are known as "Parques"

Our site at Moraine Park Campground.  You recognize the meal?

Duraflame artificial "logs" are AWESOME!

Typical Breakfast!

One of the highlights of the park is a drive along the Trail Ridge Road.  I think we ended up driving it six times.

Ok, let me give credit where it's due.  This picture, as with many, I've stolen from Onions.

Elk

The mountains on the left are called the Never Summer Mountains (great name).

The mountains in the distance on the left are the Gore Range......where I spent much of the summer of 1996.

So we didn't have perfect weather the ENTIRE time.  There was a short one and a half hour storm that passed through.  We just parked ourselves at an overlook.

One of the things we learned is that....sitting there for a long time and charging our phones drains the battery.  So, first, we had to find the battery, and so we had to wait for another Prius to look at their manual.  Then we got a jump start.  Our second, and luckily final, car issue of the trip.

The highlight of visit to the park was driving up to Bear Lake and spontaneously deciding to do a 3.5 mile hike!  The first lake was Nymph Lake.

Up and around the corner and the views became better.

Next up....Dream Lake.

The end of hike......Emerald Lake!

This hike was one of the highlights of the trip!
