After a cultural Saturday in Denver, Onions and I headed out an hour west of to take the Georgetown Loop train! |
"TICKET TO RIDE!" |
It's THOMAS!! The ride is on reconstructed trains that worked the mines in the mountains from the heyday of the mining days. |
I (and later on I found out Onions thought the same) that the train ride was a loop (as in big circle of many miles) that would take us into the mountains to see the scenery. |
But the train was a three mile (in total) ride up and down the "mountain" that went over this very tall bridge..... |
...that went over the tracks below...thereby completing the "Georgetown Loop." |
The scale model of the loop. |
However an unexpected treat was a stop to go on a tour of a former silver mine. |
But the highlight was getting to PAN FOR GOLD!!! |
Onions IN ACTION! |
And here is our GOLD! |
