Georgetown Loop...and GOLD

After a cultural Saturday in Denver, Onions and I headed out an hour west of to take the Georgetown Loop train!

"TICKET TO RIDE!"

It's THOMAS!!  The ride is on reconstructed trains that worked the mines in the mountains from the heyday of the mining days.

I (and later on I found out Onions thought the same) that the train ride was a loop (as in big circle of many miles) that would take us into the mountains to see the scenery.

But the train was a three mile (in total) ride up and down the "mountain" that went over this very tall bridge.....

...that went over the tracks below...thereby completing the "Georgetown Loop."

The scale model of the loop.

However an unexpected treat was a stop to go on a tour of a former silver mine.

But the highlight was getting to PAN FOR GOLD!!!

Onions IN ACTION!

And here is our GOLD!
