Weekend With O and Marl

Guess who came for a visit the weekend after we got back from our big trip?????

Breakfast of "sausages" and strawberries.

Mesmerized by the colors of the screensaver.

A mouse?  Hmmmm

Feeding fish

First time across the Golden Gate Bridge

Marlene was down in SF for her work for the BADM and gave us free passes!  We went for the morning and met Marlene there after her meetings.

Onions and I took turns watching O (it's exhausting, at least for me).  Here he is in the sticker room.

This is post-Ernie mistake.  I was watching him and O climbed up a ladder to the top of a boat.  I looked away (ok at my phone) and then didn't see him.  I assumed that he had climbed down and was somewhere else, so Onions and I started looking around in the play area.  Turns out, O was still at the top of the boat.  My guess is that he's never climbed DOWN a ladder, always having a slide.  Therefore, he was stuck, and had laid down and I couldn't see him.  He was freaking out so Onions went up and got him.  We calmed him down with food.

Post food, it was off to the gravel pit!!  And here we stayed for over an hour.

At first O was doing the loading of his trucks through the funnel by himself, then he realized he could get other people to do it for him.

Lining up the trucks for loading.

Slowly monopolizing ALL the trucks in the pit....lined up like his Mom.

Success!

Letting others do the work again.

O THE MOGUL has things humming along, trucks getting filled!

Uh oh.....his operation got to big and O lost control!  Things went haywire.

And just like every successful businessman, failure just means another opportunity to start something new!

After the museum....LUNCH!

The next day, we took public transportation adventure.  First the bus!

Our highlight, the California street cable car!  After 20 years of living in SF, my first cable car ride!

I'm fully going to admit, it is fun!  I see the attraction.  Here I am hanging off the side as we pass over Nob Hill.

Onions with Grant Street in Chinatown.

We then had lunch at the Ferry Building before riding the bus home for nap time.

Dinner at a Korean BBQ restaurant.  Here's O starting with broccoli.

Moving onto noodles!

He even ate beef tongue.

Sunday morning breakfast of croissants and eggs at Progressive Grounds.

After breakfast we went to Holly Park to play and get some energy out before going to the airport to fly home.  What a fun weekend with O and Marl!

Last Days of Montana and Idaho

About 10 miles from the Hogan Cabin was the location of where on August 9 and 10, 1877 the Nez Perce were able to repel a surprise attack by the US Forces who were trying to force the Nez Perce onto a reservation.

The battlefield is a the base of the grassy hillside.

On the day between the two nights we stayed at Hogan Cabin, I was thinking we would have a quiet, electricity free day of sitting around reading and chilling.  Onions, who turns out to be more restless than me, decided we should drive....and ended up going to Butte, MT.

In Butte, we took a bus tour around town. The most interesting site was the Berkeley Pit.

We spent a couple afternoons at the Lost Trail Hot Springs.

Turns out Lost Trail Pass, our turn off for the cabin is at the Idaho/Montana border.  Idaho, a new state for Onions.

On the drive to Boise, this happened.

On our one night be Boise, we arranged to meet up with Ian and his family.

Ian's wife, So Young cooked up a killer Korean dinner.

And as we drove back across the Bay Bridge into San Francisco, we were greeted by the fog.  A perfect welcome home!
