A Sunday in the park

The Lincoln Park Golf Course is a municipal course here in San Francisco. Scott and I discovered early on that we both were golfers. His friend had reserved some slots for Sunday July 17th, 2005 at Lincoln Park. The course, located in the far Northwest corner of San Francisco (it's address is 34th and Clement), plays to a par of 68 and is about 5,100 yards. Pretty easy you're thinking. Let me remind you that San Francisco is knows for its many hills and now imagine what the actual terrain of our course might be. This accurate description about the layout, beauty and condition of the course.

A moment of rest on the 16th tee

Lincoln Park's signature hole is without a doubt the par 3 17th, which hangs on the bluff above the beach. Due to the fact that the sun doesn't shine until around late afternono, when the fog burns off, I'll show you two pictues, the latter being an idealized picture of the 17th.

Now, for the results most of you have been waiting for. It turns out that Scott and I are golfers of about equal ability making on course competition fun. Our rounds were scored three different ways, stroke play, match play and skins. I won all three. Stroke play, Ernie (93) and Scott (94). Match Play (5 up with 4 holes to play) and I earned 4 more skins than did Scott.

Next time Scott will exact his revenge. I have no doubt!
