The Moscow Metro System is HANDS DOWN the best subway system I have ever ridden....and perhaps in the world. D and I never waited more than 3 minutes for a train. But wait, there's more. |

Trubnaya Station |

On our way to get our circus tickets, we exited the train at Trubnaya Station and encountered this. |

And on our way to the connecting station..... |

Tsvetnoy Bulvar Station |
![]() |
It was at this station we realized that there was a theme to each station. |
![]() |
Tsvetnoy Bulvar, being nearest to the Nikulin Circus, has a circus theme. Do you see it? |

Mendeleevskaya Station |
![]() |
Have to know your science to figure this one out! |

Komsomolskaya Station |
![]() |
At this point, we were on line #5, which circles central Moscow and decided to stop off at every station. We eventually got to about two-thirds of them. |

The themes of the station glorify the Soviet Union but also are a font of art from the era of Soviet Socialist Realism, which I LOVE. |

The ceiling mosaics (think 10 feet in length) of Komsomolskaya tell the story of Russian History. The two I include here are the ones that include Lenin. |

Novoslobodskaya Station |

Prospekt Mira Station |

Belorusskaya Station |

This one turned out to be a favorite. The ceiling tiles were Socialist Realism. So, you've got a bunch coming at you. |

Krasnopresnenskaya Station |
![]() |
Krasnopresnenskaya was a tribute to the revolutions of 1905 and 1917. Again, paying tribute to D's iPhone as she was able to Wikipedia so we could learn about the 1905 revolution. |

Kievskaya Station |

Stalin shows up in most of the wall mosaics in Kievskaya |

Park Kultury Station |

These final pictures are from the Russian Museum in St. Petersburg. I'm only including my favorite paintings. Trust me, there are a lot more that I'm not posting. |

My absolute favorite is called "Queue" |
