Valley of Fire

Driving into Las Vegas...

....looks like it's official.  The Las Vegas Raiders!  I had no clue that Allegiant would be large enough to land naming rights.

Indoor dining (needed for the air conditioning) is open in Las Vegas.  Our first restaurant meal in almost six months.

The meat was good, the banchan excellent as always, but I chose non-spicy bibimbap (bad call) and the cold noodles soup was too vinegary and not a pear flavor.

The next day we went to the Valley of Fire State Park.  With a name like that, it's way too attractive to skip.  We did two hikes, this is looking back at the first part of the White Domes Hike.  The rocky, boulder filled downhill is pretty tough for me these days.

The highlight of the hike is "the narrows"  Here's what it looks like in the entrance.

The lighting when looking back into the canyon was fantastic.

Yes, the temperatures were 100+

Onions fully covered against the sun and COVID-19

The second hike we tackled was the Fire Wave hike.  Here's the unshaded rock surface upon most of the hike took place.

Here's the destination, the Fire Wave redrock sandstone.
